Gratitude Junkies

GreenHeartI can’t say enough about a gratitude practice. You might have noticed.

Gratitude practice gives us evidence for one of my favorite quotes from Jon Kabat Zinn, “There is more right with you than there is wrong with you.”  There have been (and I’m sure there will be more) times that recognizing this has been a  stretch (sometimes a biiiigggg stretch), but with a regular gratitude practice it becomes much easier to see this.  Even when health, or relationships, or jobs, or kids, or just things in general, are feeling like crap.

As I write this, I am a bit tired from a big party last night for a simply lovely group of people.  I’ve come to love having great, big parties at my house.  I love inviting people in and making them feel loved and well cared for.  As an introvert, this is a surprising turn of events for me. But truly, I love it.

I’m grateful for old friends and new friends that come around for parties, playdates, dinners, etc.  It wouldn’t be much fun without them!

Ah, first morning coffee with my dear husband, and then, morning coffee with the fabulous parents from Clara’s school.  What a community!  What an interesting, diverse, and kind bunch.

This week, I had an MRI of my pancreas/liver area – all is well.  The pre-cancerous tissue is very localized.  No tumors, no inflammation.  I appreciated telling my friends this news and having them be DELIGHTED on my behalf.  It is so important to have people you can share the good news (and the not so good news) with.

My Yoga class is such a COOL group of chicas!!  They all just fell in step with each other immediately.  Miraculous!  And pure joy to be a part of.  Another group that I love inviting into my home…

I would be remiss without mentioning all the fabulous people that I’ve met virtually through Facebook, twitter, and blogging.  When I think about the fact that I regularly keep up with people in fourteen different countries and get to share the journey with so many amazing people, it truly makes my head spin.  Can you even believe how lucky we are to live in the times we do, with the technology we have??  I am constantly awed.

Join in if you wish by comment or your own blog post, or, just think about your own gratitude.  Even thinking about the good things in our life changes the way our brains work.  Bask in it and enjoy it.

And, by all means, have a fantastic weekend.

Gratitude Junkies: Week ending 09.18.2009

September 17, 2009

Okay, okay.  We were having a weekly, well-loved life, but you know, I think acting on our compulsion to be gratitude junkies is FAR better.  I am always referring to myself  that way, so, the weekly gratitude jam will now have a  different name, same vision…
Whether your week has been amazing or not-so-amazing, practicing gratitude is good [...]
